Meet Dr. Gondek

Eating disorder specialist.

I’ve dedicated my professional career to helping individuals with eating disorders. Before founding RecoverED, I served as the Medical Director at The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, a nationally renowned program. I held an Assistant Professor position at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where I directed the inpatient psychiatry consultation service at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center and led an Outpatient Eating Disorder Clinic in Columbia, MD.

I also worked at The Renfrew Center, at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient level, and held an academic appointment as an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University.

Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated with several bariatric surgery programs to establish psychosocial guidelines of care and I have an extensive experience in treating patients who develop disordered eating following various weight-loss treatments. My commitment to understanding and addressing the complexities of eating disorders drives my work at RecoverED, LLC every day.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist, a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and I have sub-specialty training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry that focuses on coexisting psychiatric and medical conditions. I completed my fellowship at the Georgetown University/National Institute of Health/Washington Hospital Center, and I graduated from the residency at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, where I served as the Education Chief Resident. I earned my Medical Doctor degree at the Medical University of Silesia in Poland.
